Scott James Meyer, Ph.D. joined the faculty as full-time Paralegal Studies Instructor
in August of 2024. He comes to SUNY Schenectady from Houston Community College where
he taught courses in both the Legal Assistant and Paralegal programs while also serving
as President of the HCC Law Faculty Board.
As an Attorney, Scott is a member of the Alabama State Bar and is also qualified for
Federal law practice in the Northern District of Alabama, Southern District of Alabama
and Southern District of Texas. He is a past member of the American Immigration Lawyers
Association, American Bar Association, European Criminal Bar Association, International
Bar Association and the International Criminal Bar Association.
Prior to teaching, Scott ran his own award-winning criminal defense law firm in Birmingham,
Alabama where he vigilantly fought for the rights of the oppressed, the marginalized
and the wrongfully accused.
Amongst his other accolades, he is a very proud community college graduate and Yale
University alumni. His hobbies include international travel, playing guitar, épée
fencing, jazz music and supporting the Yale Bulldogs.
