Daniel Holz has taught for over 20 years, mostly math classes. He has taught everything from 7th grade mathematics through Calculus, including Algebra, Geometry, Linear Algebra, and Statistics. After teaching in various public schools for 10 years seeking the elusive tenure, he realized that his future was not in secondary education. He found his true calling of post-secondary education at ITT Tech in Albany, where he has taught first-quarter introductory classes and most of their general education courses, including math, economics, and even composition.

During this time, he also joined SUNY Schenectady, originally as a tutor in the Math Lab. This led to him joining the ranks of the adjunct faculty and eventually the full-time faculty. He regularly teaches MAT 118 Technical Mathematics, MAT 145 Topics in Contemporary Math, MAT 147 Statistics, and MAT 149 Topics in Finite Mathematics but teaches other courses when the need arises.

Daniel works very hard to ensure his students understand and can be successful in his mathematics courses, regardless of their experience in math classes. He strives to explain the material so any student can understand, even with little prior knowledge.  One of his favorite comments that he has received multiple times from different students is “I never understood math until I took it with you!”
