Kimberly Otis has been a professional in the hospitality industry for her entire life, as a result of a successful family business, and a passionate love of the field of hospitality. Kim had served as an adjunct instructor at SUNY Schenectady County Community College for close to 20 years before accepting a full time appointment as the instructor of casino and gaming management in 2013. Kim works diligently to develop professional relationships within the business community, and within the classroom. Kim’s innate ability to connect with people has been one of her strongest qualities in the success of her students, recognizing and developing their potential long before they might realize their own capabilities. Kim is enthusiastic, generous with time and energy, and sincere. She is a believer in the ability to change lives through education, and is often recognized as the personal cheerleader of her students, many of whom are first generation college graduates. Kim has successfully developed and implemented a Responsible Gaming Ambassador certification for all casino gaming students in cooperation with the New York Council on Problem Gambling. Kim’s volunteer and philanthropic work include Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York, the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure, the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, and The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York.
