Student Government Association - the "Voice of the Student Body"
The Student Government Association (SGA) is the “voice of the student body.” The SGA Senate works collaboratively to make improvements and bring about change on campus. The Student Senate fulfills the legislative functions of the SGA and includes the positions of: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Student Trustee and eleven Senators. Student Senate meets regularly to review and vote on major resolutions concerning the general welfare of all students. Student Senate meetings are open to the public and all students are encouraged to attend.
Visit the Student Government Association Office located in room 222 Elston Hall to learn more about how you can become involved.
SGA and Student Activities frequently asked questions.
The Student Senate is elected through general student elections held on the college campus and meets regularly throughout the entire school year. Leadership skills are developed and enhanced throughout the entire academic year through trainings and conferences, meetings, social functions, volunteer experiences, and leadership excursions.
Student Senate has a direct voice in all student affairs and many college activities. Student Senate is responsible for appropriately disbursing the student activity fees to clubs and organizations, intercollegiate athletics, the Student Activities Board, programs and events, and campus improvement projects initiated by the Student Government Association. The Student Senate also serves as an advisory board to the president of the college, bringing matters of student concern to his/her attention and making recommendations which they believe will aid the college in meeting its commitment to students.
